Re: Post your AR with pictures here!
Nice stuff! ^^^
After recently having searched for a stainless barrel, I have a new appreciation for what some of you guys put into these builds.
Holy crap. Some of the barrels cost more than my first CAR.
I'm seeking a midlength stainless steel 16" lightweight (about a pound and a half - no more than 2) pencil barrel for a lightweight build my wife can shoot.
I was pretty much set on a Faxon super-lightweight (just over a pound) but then she saw the ALG EMR rails in purple and wants one. I think a "shiny" barrel would look awesome with that, so I'm looking - preferably for a POLISHED SS barrel, but not 100% necessary - a standard SS will do if I have to.
Prefer not to go over $250, so that's going to rule out a lot of them most likely.

This one was priced at $79 before going out of stock. Might be worth setting up notifications on.

This one is over $250...by $5, but includes a gas block and is a "Ultra Light" model. 1lb. 6.6oz.

Also some offerings from JSE (the one below is also 1.6lb.)

I really like the quality of the Green Mountain barrels I've used so I'd offer up this option, which I guess is acually on sale. Not light however at 1.9lbs.

Empty mag I'll have my light weight build finished tonight I hope. I'll put up some pics when it's done. You don't want the price list though. I went with the faxon barrel though

Was just about to post that Palmetto barrel, but like most of their branded ones, always out of stock. With your $250 budget, you could just buy this entire upper and swap on the rail she wants.

I recommend this, it's within your budget and can be had for less if you find a dealer with one. It weighs 22 oz. and comes with a gas block.

Re: Post your AR with pictures here!
Thanks! I'll certaily sign up for email reminder at PSA. I did that with the 9mm mag block adapter when it was priced at $29.99 but out of stock. I got the reminder, bought it (still at the sale price) and a week later they jumped up to $59.99. Never know what price something will be at PSA.
I completely missed the JSE barrel. Good price too. Bookmarked.
Still goona try for a polished, shiny one first if I can find one.
Much appreciated. It was suggested I look at them and Ballistic Advantage. I was poking around, but it seems they are all matte finish/bead blasted.
Again, not the exact look I'm interested in, but something to keep in mind as an option.
I'm a stainless noob, but it LOOKS like there are three options out there. "raw" (unpolished/not bead blasted), polished (shiny), and bead blasted. (matte/flat)
Since it's gonna be a "girly" gun, I'd prefer "shiny".
My initial goal was as light as I could possibly afford, but I think the "bling" may be worth a little extra weight to create a more "fun" rifle for her to shoot.
Thanks again guys!

Re: Post your AR with pictures here!
Cool. I'll hate you later then! LOL!
That Faxon is hard to ignore at that super-light weight and super-low price.
Heh. That would make sense. Almost. The barrel will be a tad heavier than I'd like. If I were trying to get this done NOW, I'd do it based on price.
I'm not in a rush though, so I can save up allowing me to spend more than I typically would in order to get just what I want.
Yeah, I saw that one, and bookmarked it, but it's bead blasted. Not out of the running, but like I said, I'd prefer "shiny".
If I can't find one that's polished, I have it in mind.
Appreciate the tips!

Re: Post your AR with pictures here!
I bought my first upper from JSE surplus back in 2009. If nothing has changed it was a great place to buy from. The barrel is still pewing on a different build.
