Re: SEPA Milling Party?
We are making progress and learning how to work the machine better and devise more efficient ways to git 'er done. Took about three hours to mill one out today and the job was a little cleaner than the last one. On a good note, even though some mistakes were made none of them were critical.

Re: SEPA Milling Party?
I picked up what is hopefully a better end mill today from Razor Sharp, he does sell to the public and he makes them himself. Nice guy, he took the time to talk to me and understand what I was doing and what would be best for the job. I got a 2 flute, think it's 4" OAL 3/8" Cobalt bit. The 4 flute bits end up being about .001 under due to the sharpening process so once you're deep in the pocket the shaft will keep the bit out a bit and create a shelf. We had that with the 5/16" bit, which is on a 3/8" shaft so I knew exactly what he was talking about. I'm going to figure to carve one up Mon or Tue next week if anyone wants to learn how and if we start early we should be able to do two of them.

Re: SEPA Milling Party?
Well...yinz missed out on a pretty good session. I started out just gonna get started and ended up finishing my own all by my lonesome. I have learned from the teacher fairly well but am still perfecting the procedure. Too bad it won't get used to much but maybe I'll find some other stuff to make out there. Either way, being able to use it is a step in the right direction. This one took about three hours all told but I can probably knock another 1/2 hr or more off of that but probably not much more. The only error here is that the cavity is machined out a little more on the left side than the right but it should not cause any problems.

Re: SEPA Milling Party?
looks great, glad Razor Sharp was able to help out as well.
Working full time stinks, wish I could join these day time parties.

Re: SEPA Milling Party?
I have another friend who could help me assemble one, I have to see when he's available. I'm available on weekends too, I just had the urge to get one done, like a kid with a new toy.
