Legal to carry a friends gun?
This is probably a stupid question, but I want to hear it from you guys. If you OC or CC a gun, does it have to be yours? I thought that as long as the gun has been obtained legally, it is fine.
Another (unrelated) question- if an officer were to run the serial number on a weapon you are carrying, are they able to see who the gun is licensed/registered to? My father bought the gun that I carry, and I know the father to son transfer requires no paperwork.
Thanks

Re: Legal to carry a friends gun?
You need a LTCF to accept a firearm loan.
No registration in PA
Cops do use and keep an illegal sales database though

Re: Legal to carry a friends gun?
The only way a person can lend you a handgun is if you have a LTCF. If stopped, it is possible an over-zealous LEO could take the gun. ...same thing if a parent had fully given you a handgun.
LEO's are using PA's Record of Sale database as a registration. And they are known to seize guns that the records dont match the person who is carrying it.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

You're ok with your rights being violated and your property illegally seized? You know there's people that haven't gotten their firearms back after an illegal seizure? Do you think they'll just give it back if you say please? No, it'll cost you a couple thousand in legal fees and probably a court order to get it back.
May want to reconsider being ok with it.Rules are written in the stone,

Re: Legal to carry a friends gun?
i`m almost sure i read somewhere in the pa gun laws that as long as the weapon is legal, it can be carried by a person that can legally carry the weapon. . but i`m not a lawyer, and i`m not sure where i read the admendment.

Re: Legal to carry a friends gun?
This is an interesting thread. What about the millions of handguns out there that were sold before 1968 and have no traceability, transfer or "registration" to an owner? Inquiring minds want to know. TT
