    Default XD-45 handloads data needed

I would like to thank all who responded to which is the better gun. The XD-45 won me over. Anyone have any sweet IDPA Handloads they'd like to share? I understand Titegroup and 230 grain round nose is pretty decent. Any input would help me out. Thanks.

You didn't state which XD 45 you have. The last time I looked they didn't have light spring sets for the service model (4") but do for the tactical model (5"). Assuming you have a new service model your going to find it difficult to use lighter loads. COAL is critical for proper feeding. In the 5" model you will find you can get a light spring set and load down to the low end of IDPA major. Sorry but my XD45 is rather new too and I haven't really got a good light load yet. I hav been messing with uique as I have a good supply.

Sorry for not being complete. I believe for IDPA the PF only has to be 125 or more. Also, I have a Service Model, 4" Barrel. I am not 100%, but I think the spring is either a 17 lb or a 19 lb spring. Although, I have not loaded the round I had previously printed, from what I gather it should have a PF of 148 or somewhere close to it.

I believe the XD is considered single action in IDPA (last I looked). That means you could shoot 165pf in CDP or 125pf in SSP. I have loads for both in a 5" 1911. I find Clays and Titegroup are fast enough to make pressure in a short barrel.

Actually, the XD is shot in the ESP class and the XD-45 can be shot in the CDP class. SSP is for Double Action Pistols. I will shoot in the ESP this season (April), but I will take any info. you would share. I am not familiar with the CDP guidelines now, but until then who knows what will happen.

    Thanks!

You're absolutely correct. I meant to quote ESP versus SSP.

But....any single action or double action .45 can be shot in CDP.

if you want to shoot a nice load, use clays and 230 RN.

If you want to save some money, use 231 and lead 200swc.
