Who would spend this much money on a cleaning kit?
I was searching around for a gun cleaning kit and I came across this: http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...292572.2292670
I thought it was pretty crazy that somebody would spend that much on a gun cleaning kit. Does anybody here think that this system is in any way worth that price?

If you have a wide variety of calibers that you need to clean and don't want to piece a kit together, I'd think it's worth it.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

I actually won an Otis tactical set, and looking at it I got pissed and figured it was a cheap piece of crap. Upon really using it I found out it's awesome! folds up to a pocket size kit, and works on every gun needed for a 3 gun shoot. and well, too!
add some hoppes and weapons shield and you are GTG

If I had a need for a kit like it probably. If you need all the items you won't get the entire kit cheaper buying pieces separately.

Re: Who would spend this much money on a cleaning kit?
I already have the "travel sized" kit from Otis. Its very well organized and quite awesome. It , atm, contains everything I need to clean my glock, my sks, any .40 sw pistols and anything in .223. I am actually going to purchase the larger kit. It's just that great and the product is very well thought out. So no it's not crazy, its quality.
Mostly browsing these days, and expanding the collection.

Re: Who would spend this much money on a cleaning kit?
If I can get like 5 people to SERIOUSLY recommend it I'm going to buy it. The guns I will be cleaning are bolt-action rifles and shotguns, lever action rifles, rifle and pistol semiauto .22s, AR-15, Wasr-10, pump action shotguns, semiauto pistols, and revolvers. Will it work with all of these? What else will I need to buy?(oils n nat)

If you get one, follow the destructions to a "T", an improperly placed patch will cause you an enormous amount of grief.
The whole cable thingy will become lodged so tightly into your bore that it will require some creative thinking to get it out.
There was a standing joke on another forum that involved betting on how long it would be before the next:
"HELP!!!!, my OTIS cable broke off in my barrel when I tied the cable to the back of my pickup and strapped my gun to a tree and pulled in an attempt to get it unstuck, Now what can I do other than sending it back to the manufacturer?"
thread.
Google "Otis stuck in barrel".
Don't get me wrong, many people love them, but me, I just pick up Boresnakes.
Most Boresnakes can be used for multiple calibers/bore diameters, I only have 4 and they cover 9 of my weapons.
