    Default Why 10 rounds?

I assumed they picked a number out of a hat but why do they want to limit to 10 rounds? Do they claim to have statistics that make this number the "magic" capacity to minimize mass shootings? I understand they think less capacity means more reloading.

    You've misspelled "ass".
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Please refer to the British Enfield and the "mad minute" task...10 rounds is sufficient in the proper hands...

They realize that Marines are superior marksmen and don’t need more than ten rounds. In turn, most shooters get lost in the fog of self defense, throw rounds everywhere out of emotion and can’t score hits.

Because, if ammo is 50 rounds to a box, then one box can only fill 5 magazines. Much safer than one 100 round magazine. If you carry a 1911, the math could get confusing...

Wasn't there a report on NYC Police shootings a few years back and they were only getting 1 hit in 11 rounds fired? I think they think no one will get shot if we only have 10 or 11 to work with.

    NY Triggers [roll eyes].

10 lb pull, no wonder they can't hit anything.

Because 10 rounds is the first step to 6, then 1, then none.
Can't go straight for 6. Then you're a gun grabber. 10 rounds is common sense until it isn't.

    No other reason.

ETA: might make that a T-shirt.

I’ve wondered about this bullshit myself. Why 10 rounds instead of 6 or 17? Why a 10 waiting period instead of 5 or 15? Also why 16” barrels for a rifle? Not putting a stock on a pistol? The short answer is it’s a very small stepping stone to full confiscation/banishment. The longest journey begins with a single step.

Edit: Damnit God’s Country beat me by 4 minutes....
