Global Warming. Must. Be. STOPPED!
See the full story here
The snowstorm left seven people dead, one more missing, alongside the death of 144,400 head of livestock as of Thursday. Most of the human casualties were in Lhunze, Shannan. It also knocked out telecommunications and traffic, and cause power cuts in parts of the plateau region.
Also, 1,700 other people who had been stranded were moved to safety, while another 1,300 remain stranded by damaged buildings or blocked roads in Lhunze, Cona and Comai counties, all in Shannan, by Thursday.
The snow on the ground in some places of Lhunze was two to three meters thick. Weather experts predict it will take 10 to 15 days to melt.Of every one hundred men in battle, ten should not even be there. Eighty, are nothing but targets. Nine are the real fighters, we are lucky to have them since they make the battle. Ah, but the one—one is the Warrior—and he brings the others home. —Heracletus

Re: Global Warming. Must. Be. STOPPED!
# What is the difference between climate and weather?
Because climate can be thought of as average weather, the two are closely related. However, climate and weather are different. The main distinction between the two is the timeframe. Weather describes short-term atmospheric conditions in a specific place, such as a sunny day in Los Angeles or a snowstorm in Boston. Climate, on the other hand, refers to average atmospheric conditions over an extended period of time, such as decades or centuries. Using the cities of Los Angeles and Boston as examples again, these two locations have very different climates, even though their weather can possibly be similar on any one day.

# What is the difference between climate change and global warming?
The term climate change is often used interchangeably with the term global warming, but according to the National Academy of Sciences, "the phrase 'climate change' is growing in preferred use to 'global warming' because it helps convey that there are [other] changes in addition to rising temperatures." Climate change refers to any significant change in measures of climate (such as temperature, precipitation, or wind) lasting for an extended period (decades or longer). Global warming is an average increase in the temperature of the atmosphere near the Earth's surface and in the troposphere, which can contribute to changes in global climate patterns. Global warming and climate change can be caused by a variety of factors, both natural and human-induced.
Will the climate change uniformly across the globe?
Climate change will not occur equally across our planet, nor will its impacts be felt equally everywhere. Climate is driven by the interactions among solar heating and the atmosphere, oceans, and land surfaces. Variation in solar and geographic factors will cause regional climates to change at different rates and magnitudes. Further, not all ecosystems and human settlements are equally sensitive to changes in climate. Nations (and regions within nations) vary in their relative vulnerability to changes in temperature, precipitation, and extreme weather events, and in their ability to cope with such changes. Re: Global Warming. Must. Be. STOPPED!
Now that's funny. No, "climate change" is becoming the preferred term because the global warming devotees keep getting egg on their face when they hold conferences in snowstorms. Man-mad global warming is a hoax rooted in wealth-envy whose goal is the redistribution of wealth. The environmentalist movement is anti-human and anti-capitalist.
We've been in a warming trend for the past 20,000 years.

Re: Global Warming. Must. Be. STOPPED!
The polar ice caps have been melting for 400,000 years, we have been warming for 20K with a slight (mini-iceage) cooling back about 400 years ago that ended in the 1800s. The average temp in rural areas is cooling and in urban areas is warming. This is caused by what is called the Urban Heat Island effect. It has more to do with land use. Our recording methods are better now than ever so we can see minute fluctuations where before we may have missed them. There has been no increase in violent hurricanes hitting the US. We are more aware of storms further out in the ocean that 50 years ago we may not have even known about. We have planes that can fly into these storms and measure things that 50 years ago would not have been possible. Ice shelves may be retreating (a cycle that has been going on for eons) but they are thickening.

Global warming is BS, period!!!! Its natural climate change plain and simple. Its been proven that the earth goes through periodical climatological cycles of up and down, and this is but one of them.

Re: Global Warming. Must. Be. STOPPED!
There is no conclusive proof to prove that anything that is happening to the weather is caused by man. Until they can prove that I'm not going to believe any of the global warming crap.
Are we releasing carbon into the atmosphere that has been stored inside the earth for millions of years?
You bet we are. Water vapor and CO2 are the 2 primary green house gases in that order.
Do we know enough about the global cycle that this planet has gone through?
The planet has been around for 5 billion years and we've only recently been studying the weather in depth for at most 200 years... So I'm not buying the hype that its mans fault that the earth is warming or cooling.
That and the sun is expected to go into a period of less activity which means no sunspots and flares. Which will lower the temperature of earth for a little while.Freedom is paid with the blood of those who understand what being free really means. (Me)

Actually methane is a much more potent greenhouse gas. And I think we can only claim to have studdied climate for the last 50 years with any regularity and precision. But your point is right on.
