I'd rather have them just plain GONE.

If this is correct......Michigan requires that anyone who wants to be a foster parent must register his handguns with the state as well as keep the guns unloaded and locked in a safe separate from the ammunition. .....I would inform the DHS rep that I have complied with the law and the state has the information, that the law does not include DHS receiving such information, and that would be the thrust of my case in court. Most judges do not like being reversed (am I naïve there?) and it is pretty evident that DHS has no standing. To bluff in such a way is official oppression. The case is at least equal to losing 2nd amendment rights when the loss is a grandson. If the state actually asked the grandparents to care for the child, seems it should step in and curtail an action having no basis in law. But to be told one must give up rights to achieve a goal has to be a winner somewhere on the staircase of appeals.

They said he'd have to give up some of his Constitutional Rights, not his 2nd Amendment Rights. This could very well be viewed by the initial court and the appeals courts as a 4th Amendment/Privacy issue in which the compelling interest of the State to protect the child trumps privacy concerns. As long as he is not legally banned from purchasing, owning, or possessing firearms I think he has a fairly uphill battle in the lower courts on 2nd Amendment grounds. However, if State law prohibits any type of gun registration and this is simply an HHS guideline or policy, that could be his saving grace.

In any case, I find it rather amusing that HHS thinks that just having a record of the serial numbers of all the man's guns will somehow make the child safer.

I think what he means is that it would be nice if many would at least lose their jobs or be charged with some type of crime. Why is the head of the IRS under Obama (Koskinen) still leading that agency after lying to Congress and failing to turn over evidence? Why isn't Lois Lerner facing criminal charges now?

In light of recent events, it's definitely not a good idea for anyone to go there, even if only joking.

As long as I don't break forum rules, I could care less what happened in recent events. Screw them!

I have not been that active in the forums recently. What light of recent events? Did something happen? Were there changes to the forum rules?
