Especially with 9mm, I probably can't reload it now for what it costs to buy new production ammo. I think my costs for reloaded 9mm is between 13 and 16 cents a round, as I did some big bulk deals a few years ago for bullets. That's rubbing up against the price of new ammo.

Sounds like it's time to have some fun and stock up on once fired brass

I agree. I don't think I've seen 9mm this cheap in 12 years. 223 is crazy cheap too.

No one is picking up brass anymore, that's how I know ammo is near bottom.

Primers are cheap, powder is still high. It needs to come down to about $21/lb whereas most people want around $28.

But powder doesn't drop until after ammo has bottomed - we'll know ammo is cheaper than reloading once powder normalizes.

I think there are several factors in play. One of which is an exhaustion of demand post 2013. I think the post Sandy Hook panic triggered a few years of hoarding. The sales volume inspired an increase in supply. For a lot of folks they've probably got a ton of ammo in their closet, more than they can realistically shoot any time soon.

Second, another factor a lot of people don't realize is that metals prices fell in 2016 and that affected the cost of producing the ammo in our favor.

Prices will remain flat for a while until metal prices go up or demand jumps.

LOL! Yep - that's one I'm happy to have been wrong about.
People used to point out bulk ammo pricing to me, but I was always saying that RETAIL/per box would never see $10 for 50 rds of 9mm.
It took a while, but it's out there now for that price - and less.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

About what 2 bricks of Thunderbolts were going for at Lucky Gunner just a couple of years ago. And the idiots were giving them 5 star reviews.

Thunderbolts are currently $15 a brick all over the place. There is no excuse for not stocking up.

When you factor in inflation this might be the lowest price for .22s of all time.
