    Default moving l.l.c. to different state.

    i'm moving toward the end of summer and i'm trying to figure out how to move my nfa items with me. i had set up an corperation for collecting nfa items, can i expand my llc? move my llc? i understand i have to inform the aft, but i would really like to avoid paying tax twice.
    say what???

    I spoke with a uy today about this, who has a corp set up for NFA items.

    his recommendation was, once you get into the other state (providing the other state allows your toys... check this!) you see if you can extend the LLC as being based in PA, but listed as an "out of state corporation" in the other state.

    I'd consult a lawyer familiar with Corp issues to be sure.

    Corps and LLC's are both creations of the original state. They can have a presence in another state if they register there as a foreign company, but you have to maintain a physical address in the original state as well.

    You can keep an address by using a trusted friend or relative in the old state, or you can pay for a registered office provider, which is basically a company that pays a receptionist to sit at a desk and sign for any certified mail you (or hundreds of others) receive there. It's perfectly legal, there's even a line on the forms for one.

    well, i had no idea such a service was/is provided. i will look into that. thanks for the info. i was wondering if i was going to have to keep a address in pa and then fill put some kind of extension. thanks!
