Homeowners insurance and guns.
So the insurance company that I went with, Amica, wants to ask me a bunch of OPSEC questions about my guns.., how many, type, caliber, how they are stored, where they are stored, who has access, etc.
Not for value reasons, she said they're a liability.
I know not every insurer asks about guns, so looking for RECENT experiences so that when I call her back, it's to eject and NOT acquiesce to their request for this information.
I'm open to "grow up and answer their questions you paranoid nitwit" type of feedback as well.
Thanks

Re: Homeowners insurance and guns.
I'd be looking for a new company. If they feel that having firearms is a liability, they're probably not going to support you if you ever have an incident involving firearms, like a theft.
Now grow up you paranoid nitwit.Rules are written in the stone,

all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: Homeowners insurance and guns.
A quick google search says there very anti gun even people asked when applying for car insurance. So you might want to do some looking into them still time to change. Also I have never been asked by any insurer we have state farm and I cant remember the other at this time.

Re: Homeowners insurance and guns.
If it is not for value, why do they care? Does your policy have home invasion coverage or something? Time to find another company. I added a basic firearms rider to my State Farm policy a long time ago, and their only concern was adding on the extra premium. Now if I want more coverage, they will want information to assess values, but that is one of the benefits if my NRA membership in having additional coverage through them, no s/n or other data.
You are an old? Navy guy, how about USAA? I would expect them to be more accommodating.Last edited by gghbi; August 23rd, 2017 at 03:46 PM.

Agreed. If they view them as a liability, that's a bad sign that they will not take your side or help you out in future claims.
My company insures them as property (lists as sporting goods) under my HOI policy and asked for values and a photo, but didn't even require serial numbers, which I'd be reluctant to give anyways if they did ask.
The questions they're asking you are inappropriate and irrelevant to your policy. They seem very anti-gun. I'd decline to answer and get a new company.
I PM'd you my company info.Galations 6:9...And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

I was going to suggest USSA. I have State Farm and was never asked about firearms.

No issues with Erie Insurance. Firearms coverage up to 5k was included. No questions asked.
