Re: Mountain lions in Pa?
We need to stop relating coyotes and mtn lions in the same threads
Let's make no mistake that coyotes ARE here. We have plenty of bodies to prove it. (I've hunted them since I was a boy 100 mies north of here in NYS)
The part that is BS is that the game commission released them.
As for the mtn lions.... well, that's what we're saying is not a reality. Simply no proof exists.

Re: Mountain lions in Pa?
OK, I'll go out on a limb.
About 5 years ago, while mt. biking. I was climbing up a long dirt road. I was chugging along slowly. When suddenly about 10 yards ahead of me a cat ran across the road. It wasn't till I thought about it I realized what I had seen.
Big Cat. Head in one tire lane. Tail still in the brush on the other side of the road. That made the cat about 6 foot from head to tail. Tail was really thick and long. Not bushy. But looked like a solid thick tail. Very big cat. about 18 inches off the ground.
I have wondered if it was comtemplating attacking me and then decided against it since it couldn't figure out the bike.
I am convinced it was a mountain lion. Grew up in the wild. Seen all the wild life there is around here. This was nothing I had ever seen around here before.
Course, it could have been due to exhaustion too.The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control....

Re: Mountain lions in Pa?
IF there are cats here. Free roaming, breeding, here to stay cats, why is it not big news? It would be huge national news that they have reestablished themselves in PA. Everyone knows they have cats out west. People see them and hunt them all the time. Who cares. I think it would be cool.

I have never seen a Mt. Lion in PA. I don't doubt that there may be a few. I am not talking about lost pets or the like. I DO think it would be news. Look at the freaking elk.

Re: Mountain lions in Pa?
Right, because it is no big deal that they are there. The only time you hear about a cat in the west is when it jumps on the back of a LL Bean type hiker.

Ummm. <ahem>.... Hello? That article is from Palo Alto
California
Nice try though .... ROFL
Of course I realize you must have googled "PA mountain lion" and then didn't read the article.... No sweat, we all have our days.
It's a primordial quest, to prove the PA PATRIOT wrong. And so it goes, on and on and on..........
