Default My first AR is up and running

Went out and got the upper today and went straight to the range.

Ate up a 100ct bulk pack of Federal and a box of Federal Tracers without a single issue.

I think a Vortex Strikefire will be next. For what I will use this for I decided against my original plan of an Aimpoint of Eotech - the cost difference will be better used for more ammo

    Build list:

    Spikes stripped lower
Spikes buffer assembly w/ T2 buffer
    Spikes Midlength upper
    PSA LPK w/ MOE accessories
    Magpul Hand Guard
    Magpul STR stock
    Magpul MBUS rear sight
    Magpul 30-round PMags

As it sits on the table: $924 without shipping/tax/transfer

Didn't take target pics. Was getting used to the sight and had a few others shooting just for fun

    NIIIICE!
In as much as black rifle can be pretty, She is BEAUTIFUL! I am partial to the spikes lowers (probably from playing too much borderlands - I equate the spider with vitriolic...) I just got the vortex red/green strikefire for one of mine (Palmetto state armory had a $50 off coupon ((code = strikefire)) on their website ) I really like it except for the covers - the don't fit well.
    Nice rifle.

How is the gas on that Spike's middy? The BCMs seem a little undergassed to me. Makes for a smooth-shooting gun but it's not exactly confidence inspiring.

Very nice rifle. Almost the same as the last one I did except for branding.

I'm still too new to understand that question. Are we talking about extraction/cycling? Its smooth as hell shooting and was yanking brass out beautifully

You understood just fine. I was asking if it cycled light, with a sense of purpose, or like it was going to tear itself apart. Sounds like it's on the light end like mine.

Yea not tearing itself apart but smoother compared to some other ARs I've shot. It simply felt "right"

Thumbs up Re: My first AR is up and running

How do you like the STR stock? Thinking about getting one.....

I think you'll lik e the Vortex. Mines been great even after some hard drops....

    Nice build, BTW.

STR is great so far. Went with this over the CTR due to the larger cheek weld
