Re: Looking for advice on 1911's with rail
Thanks for all the tips and information so far. I am a little leery of the Taurus do to what i have read about there CS. I have never owned a Taurus product. All three of my current handguns are Ruger.
I would like to have one of the Springfield's or S&W's but they are just to far out of my price range.
I looked into getting the add on rail but would just rather it come with the gun.
The new Rock Island with the rail looks good and is right around my price point.
I am trying to talk the wife into getting me one for Fathers Day LOL
I looked on Rock Island site but could not find any info on it. Does anyone know when it will be available?
Thanks again for all the great advice and direction.

Re: Looking for advice on 1911's with rail
After looking around at the options I have, I will hopefully be going to look at one of the Ruger SR1911's tonight. It does not have the rail, but since this will be my first 1911 I can do without it for now. It can always be added later or better option is to buy another 1911 at that time. (You can never have enough right?)
I decided to go with the Ruger for two reasons, 1. Found it for $599 and 2. I already have 5 Ruger handguns in my safe and have not had a single issue with any of them.
Thanks again to all for the advice.

Well scratch going to look at the SR1911 tonight, called AF Boyer to make sure they had it in stock and just my luck, the last one they had was put on layaway last night. LOL

Re: Looking for advice on 1911's with rail
Just to update this thread. I ended up finding the SR1911 at Classic Pistol. Picked it up today. Hopefully will get the time to get to the range very soon.
Thanks again for all the advice.

Re: Looking for advice on 1911's with rail
Yes i did decided for my first 1911 not to get a rail. Plus i can always have one added one later, or better yet just buy another with a rail lol.

Re: Looking for advice on 1911's with rail
Was Finally able to get to the range tonight and put 200rds though her.
This is my first 1911 so i really cant compare it to others but i really like the way it shoots. Not a single issue with feeding ejecting or firing.
I was shooting about 6" groups of 8 shots @ about 10yds. I'm not a very good shot yet though. Each range trip i get a little better though.
All in all I am very happy with the SR1911.
