Federal syntech range ammo?
I think I'm behind the times, but I just discovered that federal has this synthetic ammo for range use.
https://www.federalpremium.com/produ...g-match/ae9sj3
They claim, "Syntech® Training Match™, loads that offer the same velocity, trajectory and point of impact as equivalent Federal Premium® Personal Defense® HST®."
And it looks like SGAmmo sells it at 11 dollars/50 rounds.

If it gives the same performance of my 147gr HST at 11 dollars a box, it seems like a no brainer to switch to this for my range ammo.
Anyone have any experience with it?Life has a melody. Not great, not terrible.

Re: Federal syntech range ammo?
I was using 115gr Syntech last winter in our indoor range. Accuracy was good for "range ammo" and it functioned well in my SR1911 and Star BM.

Re: Federal syntech range ammo?
Nothing new! It's just an update of the old S&W Nyclad ammo of the late-70s. Federal bought the rights and even reintroduced Nyclad ammo under their label. A synthetic jacket reduces fouling and costs , and makes for an effective and low-cost duty/training round.

Re: Federal syntech range ammo?
I saw this ammo out more at USPSA matches this year and no one was complaining about it so that's a good thing.
Call me crazy, but I swear I can smell when people are shooting it. It has a slightly different odor and every time I looked to see what ammo I was smelling it was syntech! In America arms are free merchandise such that anyone who has the capital may make their houses into armories and their gardens into parks of artillery. - Ira Allen, 1796
