Nothing wrong with stance, and aiming style experimentation. Keep trying different things!

Very good advice, everybody's stance and shooting style is different. It all boils down to what works best for you. Kinda like a batting stance in baseball, it's all in what works best for you. Good luck with the 870, it's a good gun!

Thanks guys. My only shooting experience before was with either BB guns or my buddy's .22 rifle that I put my 20 rounds through.

I'm a go big or go home kinda guy so I started out with a nice hefty 12 gauge and now I'm in love.

I'm currentley working on rebuildIng an old 1903 Springfield. Then after that my wife and I are looking in a couple pistols for fun/carry.

I have always had the bug, but never the means to fund it. Then my wife's work sent her to Fort Dix for their Boss Lift program. She got to shoot (real rounds no blanks) their M16s, their service pistols, an the icing on the cake, a 50 cal Humvee mounted MG and another Humvee mounted MG. She said the best part was when the 50 cal hit the unexploded artillery rounds they were firing at.

Well I got jealous and decided it was my turn.

I think the more you learn about guns, the happier you'll be with the 12 gauge shotgun. You can get ammo on two completely opposite ends of the spectrum where some will barely kick and cost about .25 a shot and some that will totally wreck whatever it hits and set you back over a $1 per shell. The versatility of the shotgun just can't be matched by any other weapon and that's why I love it soooooo much. It's cheap to shoot when you want to have fun but it's still an excellent choice when you need some serious stopping power. Not to mention that you can do about a million different things to an 870 if you want to customize it.
