Agree, anything rare or very valuable will be auctioned. I believe I heard somewhere that some of the 1911's received this year are from a "museum" stockpile.
I've been kicking it around but I don't know. I recognize the historical significance and collectability, but for the price I could just as easily buy a new modern production 1911 with all the bells and whistle.
