The game commission received more emails, phone calls, and letters from PA hunters then they did from antis and animal rights groups concerning the use of semis for big game hunting. And yes I was a letter sender but all I asked was for 5 round magazine restrictions the same as standard hunting rifles. When I got a reply email it was explained to me the amount of people who wrote in with concerns. There's probably a ton of members on here who wrote in also but don't have the balls to fess up.
Are you saying that semi auto was at one point legal for big game in pa?
    Some people just plain suck.

Not necessarily. Double tap. The deer was standing still both times that the trigger was pressed.

Yes. For the 2016 2017 rifle season (last year) you were able to use semi-auto rifles for deer hunting. The Governor signed the bill right before the season started. Unfortunately some idiots all over the state F'd it up for everyone and A holes like me wrote to the game commission with concerns. Again all I suggested as there were no regulations for that season regarding semi autos was to limit the magazines to 5 rounds for hunting purposes.

Sorry but you are mistaken. They reversed course before the season started.

The exception to this in small game is groundhog. There are no caliber restrictions on them.
For furbearers, you may use semi-automatic rifles in any caliber, so you can use them for thing like coyotes, fox, racoons, skunks, possums etc.

Here is the 2016 Digest. Could you maybe point to the page?
    http://maps.dcnr.pa.gov/bof/huntmap/...g%20Digest.pdf

The bill that Wolf signed on November 21 2016 did not change any hunting regulations directly. It removed the prohibition against using semi-rifles and authorized the PGC to regulate their use in hunting. There is no way that the PGC could chaange the rules in the middle of the hunting season. They barely came to an agreement by the time the 2017/2018 handbook was written. It also did nothing for semi-auto pistols in hunting (still prohibited).
