Well, I guess they mean business. When the CEO says he'll "ask" that customers not open carry in his stores, he's not just asking.

Note that the store did not merely say, "please leave and don't come back again", but they called the cops on him and had him detained in the store.

Fake news. It is unrelated to the recent policy change. See this thread: http://forum.pafoa.org/showthread.php?t=351649

Yes, this horse has been beaten to death.
That may as well have happened 20 years ago.
It's not relevant to the new policy.

Apparently we're still GETTING ammo, so they must be selling until their warehouse supplies are exhausted vs store supplies.

The stores don't keep ammo in the "back room".
The kid with the key at my store told me they'd stop selling when they sell out of what they have left after the warehouse "cuts them off". He did not say or know WHEN that would happen, so Walmart seems to want to sell a lot of remaining ammo before they decide to "cut off" the stores.

Virtue signalling to the max. If they believed what they're preaching, they'd stop selling immediately and take the loss.

    Yep.

Ammo gets shipped to the store the same way every other product does - when the system shows low inventory/outage, enough of that item to replenish the shelf space gets sent. (in theory anyway)

The only things kept "in the back" are overstock - product that didn't fit on the shelf.
When ammo comes on the truck, it's mixed in with canned corn, panty liners, Armor All, and everything else.
It then gets placed in a locked cage in the back until someone comes to put it on the shelf.

AK/AR & handgun ammo is back on Walmart shelves, at least in the Freeport Rd. store near Aspinwall (as of 9/25). Couldn't believe it. Just 2 weeks before I saw the shelves emptied and placed in a big locked cage in the store. What gives??

Who knows. Maybe the store manager screwed up and thought they were supposed to stop selling ammo, when in fact the memo clearly states that existing stock will be sold off.

My store still has lots of ammo - lots of empty spots, but some have been restocked since the new policy too.

Do .308 Win / 7.62x51mm rounds, especially the FMJ variety, count as "short-barrel" rifle ammo that are the subjects of the new policy restriction?

I doubt the people who made the new policy could even answer that question.
