    Default What .22 for rabbits?

Want to start rabbit hunting and I don't want to use a shot gun so I have chosen the .22. What gun do you recommend? Also if you are recommending one you own, can i see some pics?

Or on the other end of the spectrum, a NEF Handi Rifle.

any halfway decent heavy barrel .22 bolt action will do the trick, just bring it to a range and get it sighted in if using a scope and get the feel for the gun.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

Hunting? Walking out in the field? from a back porch?

If you want a field gun, the marlin 39a is fine, carries a ton of ammo (esp if you use longs or shorts), has a very closed action (good for unexpected weather) and has killed a zillion rabbits over time. Put a classic styled 3-9x leupold scope on it and smile all day long.

That said, I sold my 39a and got a CZ 452 kinda like Lycan's:

And love the thing. But I shoot more from a bench at paper bunnies, where its abilities exceed the 39a.

+1 on the Ruger 77/22. Mine is mounted with an older Redfield 3X9 and there are NO groundhogs or rabbits on my 4 acres of God's Green Earth!

RUGER 77/22 vbz 22wmr barrel on right now for chucks but squirrel season sees the VQ carbon fiber THM barrel mounted and a 3-12x44 atop the receiver....you can't find a more accurate rifle for the $.

What Lycanthrope said. But any .22 you can shoot well will do the trick.
    Cogito, ergo armatus sum.
