I’m still waiting on distributers to ship, so look for us to be fully stocked at this show! Mags, ARs, old military rifles and pistols, new hand guns, and so much more!

It pains me to have to miss this one as I made a prior business commitment for that weekend. Rats!

Re: Tri-County York Gun Show - Dec 28th & 29th, 2019
it is like any other gun show at the moment. some high priced guys, some deals, some socks and throwing stars. its a larger show with lots of variety to include modern and collectable, sporting and military firearms. a little something for everyone. I usually do very well at this show as I have been setting up here for about 15 years now. its in my backyard but it is one of my favorites on my show route.

Re: Tri-County York Gun Show - Dec 28th & 29th, 2019
What a bust. I hadn't been to a gun show (York or elsewhere) in several years. I figured I'd try this one again (rainy day, so I couldn't play outside).
Lots of "miscellaneous" stuff (targets, no-name optics, food, clothing, etc.), and lots of overpriced guns. I wasn't impressed. The only thing that made it worthwhile was talking to a vendor about 80% guns; he was pretty knowledgeable.
And a number of empty tables.
I didn't see many people doing firearms paperwork, although I was only there a couple hours.
I have to wonder how many of these vendors actually turn a profit after factoring in drive time, setup and breakdown time, being there the entire weekend, plus gas, and show fees.
Not a business I'd want to be in.
Probably it for me for gun shows for the foreseeable future.

Re: Tri-County York Gun Show - Dec 28th & 29th, 2019
the show was light as many dealers had completely sold out of inventory last weekend at Oaks and since the holiday fell in the middle of the week, nothing they ordered had been delivered by show time. I ordered pistols on Monday after Oaks and they arrived on Friday just hours before I left to set up. I was busy all weekend and moved lots of guns, mags, and bayonets...but not all dealers had the same luck. The show was decent overall and lots of great to people to talk to. the business side of things is tough right now. markups are 6% on new rifles, and you always have some meatball who wants to buy a $500 gun for $350.....I guess lots of people think we make tons of money doing this...but in reality those who are competitive (not outrageously priced) are literally just scraping by and paying bills. the high priced guns don't sell, and the guys like me who compete with internet and local pricing are only making $25 per gun....you have to sell a boat load of guns to pay for tables, gas, tolls, hotel rooms, meals, and more. the thing that makes me hot is when someone comes to the table and asks for a 20% to 30% discount on my price when im already well below every other dealer at the show. if you know its a good deal...buy it. don't be a dick and ask or expect to get even more off of that price.

Re: Tri-County York Gun Show - Dec 28th & 29th, 2019
I could not agree more with your remarks. I have been on both sides of the gun counter and it amazes me that a lot of people think the FFL is some sort of flea market/garage sale where every price is negotiable. I doubt the same people would try to pull the same thing at any other commercial business, but I could be wrong. I have always lived by the basic tenet that a gun price is either fair, a ripoff, or a great bargain. If it is a fair price or a bargain I will consider it. If it's not I will walk. Few people understand or realize how "razor thin" the profit margin is in the gun business. If more people understood that fact then might think twice about the lowball offers, but in my cynical state of mind, chuckleheads will always be chuckleheads.
