US Army Regional Steel Pistol Championships

This is a Steel Pistol match comparable to the US Steel National Championships. We will run the same type of stages as the US Nationals. We are going to run 3 divisions, including Centerfire Semi Pistol, Centerfire Revolver, and Rimfire divisions. For more info on the stages, please see www.ussteelshoot.com. So please explain how this merits being called a US ARMY Regional Championship if Army personnel are not competing and it's sponsored by a civilian organization instead of a Major US Army Command i.e. 1st U.S. Army or FORSCOM?

Interesting, a career ago I participated as a member of the 77th USARCOM team in the First U. S. Army Regional Rifle, Pistol and Machine Gun Championships at Ft. Meade Maryland. This was an Army only event open to teams from Brigade-sized and larger units. Sure was fun getting paid to shoot! The only thing better would be getting paid to hunt or fish!
