Re: Taurus .38 revolver
I've had 5 or 6 Taurus 85 revolvers.
The stainless guns were tough and reliable and I really wish I'd kept one of them (sold to fund other gun purchases).
I still own two: 85 Multi-Alloy (aluminum frame, titanium cylinder/barrel shroud) which had a light strike problem initially; also an 851 (all titanium with a shrouded hammer).
The 85 Multi-Alloy is very light (>14 oz unloaded) and has been a very capable, reliable gun for the 10 or so years I've owned it.
The 851 was purchased to replace the 85 as my most carried gun. The shrouded hammer really does lend itself to an easier draw.
The 85, with it's exposed hammer, is a great pocket revolver...one of the best. But that hammer can be tough on trouser pockets. That's the sole reason I bought the 851. I thought about grinding the hammer but just didn't want to modify the gun. Now it's a desk gun, but I still do carry it occasionally.
Those Little Taurus .38's are some of the best snubby revolvers one can buy. Every bit as reliable as .38 snubbies cost hundreds of dollars more. Just realize these are up close and personal weapons, not target guns.Well, pushed 60 too hard so now I am the big SIX-OH. Now I can be a real pain in the ass! And, who says growin' old isn't fun!!

Re: taurus .38 revolver
I've had a Taurus 85 for over 20 years now. I stay away from +P ammo and have had no issues with it.
