My undestanding is that bills were introduced in the House and Senate. House bill went through committee and there was to be a vote on it this or next week. The vote was postponed before the Nevada shooting. It was unclear why it was postponed.

I'm no conspiracy theorist, but even I think it's awfully "convenient" for this to have happened right now. Nevertheless, I'm trying to avoid the feeding frenzy until some actual facts can be brought forth.

However I generally agree that, strategically, we're necessarily in a hunker-down, keep-quiet phase right now. Salt, open wounds, and all that. Any progress needs to wait until 2018+

Unfortunately we are going to have some fighting to do during the 2018 election cycle. All those poor losers from '16 are going to vote early and vote often, making it difficult to hang on to the multiple majorities required to pass a bill like National reciprocity. If we don't get it done by the end of '18, it may be some time before we get the planets to align and have another opportunity as good as we've got right now.
