Allegheny LTCF renewal
My LTCF expired on Dec 2, 2008. Yesterday Dec 9th 2008, I went down to the courthouse to complete the first step of renewing it.
Now here's the question: If I was carrying concealed on Dec 9, 2008, was it legal. Yes or No?
BTW I already know the answer to this question and the applicable statute, I'm just curious how many others know.Last edited by DaveM55; May 28th, 2013 at 07:10 PM.

Re: Allegheny LTCF renewal
I believe it was legal as you were in the 6 month window of expiration as provided for by 6106 (12) of the UFA.

Re: Allegheny LTCF renewal
A person who has a lawfully issued license to carry a firearm pursuant to section 6109 (relating to licenses) and that said license expired within six months prior to the date of arrest and that the individual is otherwise eligible for renewal of the license.

Well I guess that ends that bit of curiosity.
Yes the above two posters are correct and they even cited the statute.
I just wanted everyone to know that your LTCF is good for six months after the expiration date."Having a gun and thinking you are armed is like having a piano and thinking you are a musician" Col. Jeff Cooper (U.S.M.C. Ret.)

I realize this is from 2008, but is it still valid?

Re: Allegheny LTCF renewal
I'd like to know if this is still valid too, since the county is taking its time responding to my renewal application.

Re: Allegheny LTCF renewal
It is not "legal" to carry CC without a license. To carry concealed you need a license (and be able to produce it).
You have a DEFENSE following your ARREST to prove license in COURT.
Legal? In the end... maybe, but know the risks
It is an exception that you will need to prove in court, so yes, illegal until proven licensed at a later time.Last edited by BimmerJon; May 28th, 2013 at 04:20 PM.
