    Sad.
I bet they clean up their trash.

I stopped by the store for the first time in a year and a half the other day. Asked about the outdoor range. The employee said the judge has been in the hospital for several months and they can't reopen until she makes a judgment.

My response was that is funny because I just saw her last week and she signed several court orders for promotions on the 6th. They just gave me a blank stare because I trumped their lies with facts and the owner didn't give them a prearranged retort.

Edit: Oh they also encouraged me to call and complain to Judge Emery's law clerk before I said she is not in the hospital.

When they were open my son and I actually took a weed eater with us to cut down the growth that was hiding the berm's. They did zero maintenance on that place.

Too bad Misery isn't a member there.

Notice the top of the 3rd berm which is at 200.
There is a steel target placed up there.
I suppose there isn't a chance in hell of skipping a few rounds downrange.

The pistol bays were overgrown and a few piles of dirt were left for reasons unknown.
The 100 yd rifle range canopy top appeared to be collapsing and the benches support were half rotten. I had to use one of the bench seats which was laying on the ground to shore up the table.

    It really was a mess.

John, who seemed to be in charge was a nice enough guy to BS with and referred to the place as "a work in progress" although little work seemed to be going on.

I believe they continued to operate even given a cease and desist order ( I believe I read that in a Washington paper a while back) pending the outcome of the zoning hearings.

Well, end of story. The place coupled with the indoor range wasn't worth $300 / yr. Too bad. It was about half the distance to PMSC without traveling through the parkway traffic or the back way through South Park and McKeesport.

    All things must pass.

Where do you even shoot from? It is BYO Bench? Dude probably didn't want to sink any money into it because he knew there was going to be "issues". It's such a shame. Imagine what that place could be like if someone came in, followed the rules, and sunk some money into it.

Does anyone know if Iron City actually purchased the property or were merely leasing it or something? I heard rumor a long time ago that Tex or whoever owned it wanted a few million for the land.

To the left of the almost hidden 2 tier shooting platforms is a row of tables with about 4 new ones which were the ones I shot off of.

There were some unfounded rumors that Tex was either still living there or close by. The lot across the street from the entrance is cleared. A friend of Tex's who I Bs'd with out there said he was going to build a house there.

From what I heard (again unsubstantiated) he was looking for 3 or 4 times the market value of the land. That was close to 10 years ago.
i wouldn't think IC would purchase it without knowing if it was a viable endeavor to do so.

At this point, looks like it isn't.

If Tex or some family member or whatever of his still owns the land, I would be willing to bet that the ATF is going to do everything in their power to keep any firearm related business from taking place there, regardless of who is allegedly running the operation.
