Yep,arrange to meet up and inspect the gun before you both enter the shop. The seller can go through the mechanics and workings of the gun without ever handing it over to the buyer.

My only worry here is what if the seller actually only want to take the money. Meeting in NJ they can be pretty sure a PA resident is unarmed.

If the dealer will not let the buyer fondle the handgun, then have the dealer check it out

I think you missed his point. He's saying that you *can't* check it out. You may be able to look at it sitting on the counter, but not handle it.

Now, he may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's what he's trying to say.

If they won't let the buyer touch it then have the dealer check it out while you lean in and look..

You are correct in interpreting my point. I was a nj resident 3 years ago. Have since used my FID card as a target at the range. 1 bullet for every year I have been out of that shit hole

This thread punctuates why this ordeal just isn't worth it.

Yeah,he's gotta really want the gun for him to go through all this hassle.I also recently came across a listing for a long sought after gun for sale but it is in Jersey and I'm not sure if I want to put up with all of the bs that such a deal requires.

I wouldn't pay $5 for any gun in NJ, unless it were shipped to a local FFL and I paid upon delivery.

This was one of the parts that pissed me off. I'm near Philly, and depending upon what I'm carrying, it scares the crap out of me that I could screw up at 4th/5th street and end up on Ben Frankin Bridge. Get pulled over by friendly NJ Police officer with 18 Hollow Points (don't they do two years per hollow point?).

And trust me, I already offered to meet her in person so I could hand her cash and see how FFL to FFL in different states works. Will see what she says.

And yes, I will go trough all this work, I bought my first one for $800, sold for $2000, this one is $1800, likely worth more like $2500, but more importantly I want another one of each type.

    What, y'all don't like HK P7s??

I don't like buying out of state, but these are getting hard to find, thus the effort.

And I can't trust anyone in CA, or FL, including some random FFL, to check out a gun for me, especially a $2-3k P7..
