NJ arrests woman in possession of a handgun magazine SPRING??

Friend visiting today says the woman was in possession of a spring that would lift the cartridges in a handgun magazine, was told any part of a gun is a gun.

I can't find anything on it, and wonder if it's BS.

Sounds like bs, how does a cop know what the spring is for,
hell I bet most gun guys wouldnt know, there are many springs
that look like that for different applications.

So lets see: the real story was something like this...

-Traffic stop with probable cause to search for contraband
-Gun found under seat
- partly disassembled magazine in violation 0f both mag limits in state, as well as ammo peons not allowed to have.
-All involved underage for gun ownership, of course none had appro. local permit in the first place either.
