    Default Concealed carry to polls?

Just wondering if CCW is allowed at places during voting? With all these reports of death threats and previous black panther voter intimidation, I'd prefer to carry.

Our voting is at a public school, so I assume that is a "no no"?

If your polls are at a school or other prohibited place like a courthouse, then carry is not allowed. For a school it doesn't matter whether or not school is in session.

However, there is the "other lawful purpose" thing in the statute about schools which some interpret as being legal to carry there. Do so at your own risk. IANAL

    (c) Defense.--It shall be a defense that the weapon is possessed and used in conjunction with a lawful supervised school activity or course or is possessed for other lawful purpose.
Also the "other lawful purpose" is a defense and I believe means you can use it to argue your case at trial. But I doubt citing it is going to keep you from being arrested and having your firearm confiscated.

Sadly my routine for voting is driving directly from my house to the polling place, voting, driving directly back to my house and retrieving my firearm.

Then get an absentee ballot. Under "reason" you could write that you wont mgo to a public school in Yardley unarmed.

Edit... Quack would need another reason. Mikelets is the one in Yardley. My bad.

I don't expect any problems and more curious than anything else. Especially some posts stating school grounds "okay" if school not in session and others saying "absolutely not". Coming from the Socialist Republic of NJ, I've become accustomed to to making 100% sure before hand or simply not "doing it".

However, it took me quite some time to get used to carrying on a daily basis--- since I've gotten used to carrying, not carrying seems uncomfortable..

Yeah, the law makes no distinction on whether it is after school hours (holiday, weekend, summer, evening) or not.

Best advice: do not carry on any school property or even leave your gun in your vehicle on school property... unless you want to risk a lot of hassle, possible arrest and paying out lots of cash to a lawyer. IANAL

It's the same with the school zone speed limit flashers. Even in the summer, if that light is flashing 15mph in front of the school, you have to slow down.

If its not a school I would always carry when voting. Do you remember in the last presidential election down in Philly how the Militant Black Panthers w/ batons showed up at some of the polling places to intimadate voters!!!!

And what purpose would your gun serve? Intimidate them?
