    Default My 10/22 got facelift!

Well, i bought 10/22 carbine with distributer exclusive blue laminated stock few months back for my niece Kristina.

Nothing special - just simple 10/22 that every shooter should have in their safe.

Since then, she has been shooting much better, and now shoots pistols as well(I bought her Sig Mosqueto. She also proclaims that my Taurus 85 with 3" barrel is hers as well..)
But she always wants to shoot my AR's. And I do let her, but probrem is that cost of 5.56mm are not getting any cheaper, and even I have hard time shooting as much as I want, do to lack of 5.56(or .223 - much more easily obtainable).
So I figured I'd get .22LR conversion for my 16"carbine(20"rifle is little too long for her still). But since I've dicided that I'm gonna turn my carbine in to more proper zombie killer, i didn't bother with .22LR conversion.
I then thought about getting her a new Colt M4 .22, but since it was is a Colt licensed product, made by Walther, imported by Umarex(and I didn't care for the quality of P22, and few other recent Walther offering too much), I say nay to that idea as well.

Then the all conqureing GSG5... I really wanted one(for myself really), but my local shop didn't have one.
So tweeking old 10/22, i did.

So it went from above pic plain jane to below

I added ATI's new collapseable, side folding stock on it, put some forearm rails with vertical grip, with harris bipod, and also Butler creek's 25rder to finish it off. Pretty mean looking plinker now, ain't she?

Stock folded(should have taken pic from other side..)

Fits are good, although channel where reciever goes could be bit tighter. Stock locks in folded or extended position with positive click, and with few min with dremel made its barrel free float..

I can't wait to shoot this plinker this weekend!

Yep, lowly 10/22, got to love them.
Everyone should have at least one of them in their safe.
I like them so much, that infact, I'm thinking about building 50yd tack driver from scratch!

As far as my current 10/22 - I now call it AR-10/22 - goes, i'm debating over what sort of sighting I want to go with.

I was thinking of some red dot, using some cheap cantilever ring, like one below for $19.99

And use some cheap 30mm tubed red dot optics(like one from NcSTAR or something like that).

But then I'm also thinking good'ol iron sights are the way to go...

either way, I'm not spending too much on it tho..

Man that is completely badass man! About how much did the conversion cost? I might have to do this to mine!

Tons of fun to shoot and the folding stock makes it fit nicely in small spaces.
Tapco makes another tactical stock that is very affordable for the 10/22.
Check out the tactical stock section on rimfire central for ideas.
