    Default Northampton Co. LTCF

Alright, it took two years but on Monday I finally got my wife to put in for her LTCF. While there I asked the woman behind the desk a couple of questions. One of the questions was how far in advance can I renew my LTCF. She told me that they do not renew that I would have to reapply. Can anyone tell me if this is the case? When I got my LTCF five years ago they had a renewal process, I think.

in Dauphin County the renewal form is the same as the main application and you check renewal in the section provided, not sure about your county since this state deems it necessary to allow countys to make up rules how they wish...

Yes, the clerk was correct, you're not renewing but rather reapplying. Yes, you are correct, you are renewing an already existing license.

Why the confusion, because a renewal and a new application both use the same SP4-127 form, the only difference being is that for a renewal you check off the box that says "Renewal." The procedures for both are identical, including references.

    18 Pa. C.S. § 6109(f)(2) states the following:
At least 60 days prior to the expiration of each license, the issuing sheriff shall send to the licensee an application for renewal of license. Failure to receive a renewal application shall not relieve a licensee from the responsibility to renew the license.
So, you can wait for the reapplication form in the mail, or you can pay a visit to the sheriff's office not earlier than 60 days from the expiration date on your license and fill out a new application then.

Sorry, fill out a renewal application then.

    FWIW

When I "renewed" in Bucks County the woman told me she couldn't renew, that I had to reapply, I expected this I had actually let mine lapse by about 9mo's Doh'. She then proceeded to check renew on the standard state mandated form and 15mins later I was out the door with my new License.

I guess the point is there is just not really any difference in renew/reapply. Same form, same PICS check, at least in Bucks same procedure/time, etc.

So do you have to go through the whole process again? I'm just wondering because I probably won't have to as I work for the county anyway, just curious.

Does the sherriff's office go through the same checks with the same 45 day, possible, wait or do they give it to you right away? It took about two weeks to get it the first time.

MY wife is now legal to CC. She got her LTCF in the mail yesterday.
One question: Does it matter that the hair color is wrong? They have it listed as black and she has been blonde for the 11years that I have known her. Her natural hair color is about light brown.

Does the hair color matter? If anyone asks, the answer is "Lady Clairol."

Of course, she can always go to the sheriff's office and get it fixed.

What does her driver's license say? They should be consistent.
