C&R FFL requirements in PA

Since when did you have to notify the CLEO? I never heard of that one. Just apply, make copies, keep your bound book straight and your good to go.

It's always been like that even when I applied in FUAC nys just send a copy to your local CLEO they never respond back .

I dropped the CLEO copy off at the sheriff's office and said enjoy, they have no say.

Yep , you just ae to notify. Only problem I have is the local CofP and I end up talking about guns for an hour!

The reason I asked was because I had to send a change of address form recently. I sent a letter along with a copy of the Amended form saying it was for a transfer of my FFL to my new address and no action was needed on their part. Got a call from the Berks County Sheriff asking if I had a state license to sell firearms since they didn't have one on record. Called them back and left a message saying I only have a C&R license and that I'm not in the business of buying and selling firearms etc. Probably should have mentioned in the letter that it was for a C&R, because all FFLs use the same form, which probably lead to his question.

The Berks Co. Sheriff's office is pretty knowledgeable, and I'm pretty sure there are a few C&R licensees in the county. They sign off on NFA stuff all the time without issue, so I'm pretty certain it was just because I never mentioned the type of FFL I had. Hopefully just telling him via voicemail I had a C&R and that I'm not in the business of buying/selling takes care of it. I also mentioned that I hadn't even had the chance to use it yet, no money.

I do believe that notifying the CLEO is a check off requirement of the C&R form.

Four renewals and an address change, had to notify the CLEO each time.
