Russia Switching From Makarovs to the New Strizh Pistol
Oh, and its convertible too, to what they're calling a half-carbine.

Looks like the Makarov prices are going to fall when the surplus ones hit here.Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.

Re: Russia Switching From Makarovs to the New Strizh Pistol
Interesting considering they already made a switch a few years back:

and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSh-18 - Which I find far more interesting.
I knew there were still a lot of Makarovs, but throwing a third pistol into the mix doesn't seem like that is going to solve that problem.

Re: Russia Switching From Makarovs to the New Strizh Pistol
I would be interested to know if Strizh would hold up against established guns like Glocks in term of reliability and Durability.
If this gun is like every other Russian small arms, I would buy it knowing that it'll go to hell and back, beary break a sweat(like Glock), but seems to have more natural grip angles that I like(unlike Glock).
I'd buy one if thats the case(if its available for US market)Last edited by Mity2; June 23rd, 2012 at 05:53 PM.

Oh well, it might be good news in disguise. Maybe the U.S. will believe it must follow suit and adopt the M&P45 as standard and dump the Beretta.

It's an Italian/Russian project and I see the Tanfoglio influence.
Might be interesting if they can get support (magazines, etc...)here.

Re: Russia Switching From Makarovs to the New Strizh Pistol
If they made these in 10mm, the US Military should have a new standard-issue sidearm.
Seriously-- excellent design, in a caliber that produces more power AND more capacity than a .45ACP?
All the technology we have, yet the common infantry soldier is strapped with out-dated, poor firearms. Something like this would be a major step in the right direction.
