Default MAS 49/56 20rd. mag conversion source parts

Hi all. I have a 49/56 in original configuration. I want to try to fabricate a 20rd. mag to fit the rifle for no other reason than to see if it I can pull it off and make it look like a poor mans M14. Please don't post comments on how 10rds. is enough etc. I've googled the idea and got a little info but not much.

I have a mag that i will be removing the mag catch from and will tac onto a new mag. My problem is i don't know of a source for a 20rd. mag which will accomodate the length of the original cartridge. I've seen the mag conversion has been done with rifles that have been coverted to 7.62 with FAL mags but none for rifles in the original caliber. Any info would be appreciated.

there was a french 7.5mm 24/29 LMG that was mag fed and french armorers would fabricate mags from those. unfortunately they are also pretty rare in this country.

you can get a good deal on them here

MPI. Thanks for the help. I just ordered 4 for 20 bucks leaving me a lot of wiggle room for error. +1

After closer inspection (ordered from work) i noticed that the original MAS mags are not squared up where they meet the rear of the mag well like i thought. Does anyone know if the 24/29 mags are of the same design as the MAS mags in how they mate to the rear of the mag well?
