Default Duty to Inform ....question based on actual expeirence

I had a very minor accident , I was rear ended at a red light , the car behind me had their foot "slip" off the break and they rolled into me . Minor damage to my rear bumper. We pulled over off the road and I called the police. The driver of the other vehicle was saying there was no visible damage so we were good . I knew there was damage albeit minor so I called the police , I wanted the report for my insurance purposes. Long story short ...I was pocket carrying my .32 in my cargo shorts and I did not tell the office I was carrying when he arrived , I just didn't want to complicate the situation and really just wanted the accident report. Was this a grey area or should I have informed the officer?

Yeah but I though when involved in an action requiring the police something changed .. anyway thanks for the quick response don't know why I was questioning myself maybe I was just agitated at the time and not thinking clearly.

In PA , you do not have to inform , unless asked!

Anymore , the first thing cops ask if you have any drugs or weapons , or needles , or any number of ridiculous items as seen on TV.

Can you cite where you have to inform if asked?

He can't. Its misinformation spread by Kim.

The confusion lies where you have to provide a LTCF if they discover you have a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

And the answer to that question is: I am carrying nothing illegal, Officer.

AFAIK you do not have to say anything in PA. Just don't lie. But if you stay silent I have a feeling the cop is just going to just say "That is your right Sir, so have a nice day". If things get bad and you know he is about to pat you down.......TELL HIM YOU ARE CARRYING. PLAINLY, CALMLY, AND CLEARLY! Tell him where it is and keep your hands in clear view and keep then still!

You can post on how some cop violated your 2A rights later.

So... what possible 'action' could occur that would require you to inform Police when NOT interacting WITH the Police ???

These threads always turn into every poster's personal opinion or advice, instead of what is actually required.

You do not have to inform, period. In fact, you do not even have to speak. If you choose to speak, it is not illegal to lie to an officer, nor for an officer to lie to you.
