I know right? I was drinking all day. I went to sleep. I was abruptly awoken when a guy burst into my bedroom, turned on the light and came at me with an axe raised above his head. I grabbed my gun and fired until he dropped. I'm still drunk what should I do?

I already explained. The other link was to show MOST people aren't charged when shooting someone in self defense. Many here think that's the norm. Or they just like to be contrary.
Or they read every other sentence in my post. I don't know. I also said being intoxicated doesn't automatically mean you will be charged as it was implied and what got this whole thing going. Nobody has shown anything otherwise. I at least tried and found a guy that was acquitted. Of shooting a cop no less.

Anyway, thanks all for the debate. Nothing was posted in anger or with attitude on my part. Good night all

I'm glad you called me first. First, place your drop gun in the guys hand. Now put a bigger axe in his other hand.
Let's not forget there are still species of tropical penguins living in the Galapagos.

I don't have a drop gun but I do have a SuperSoaker. Will that be okay?

I've actually heard of a number of shootings (of off duty cops)that happened in bars. That's a revealing piece of information. Opens the door of curiosity anyway...

But that isn't what you link showed. What it shows was a selection of cases, by a pro-gun news source, where the shooter wasn't charged. What it lacks is all the cases where one WAS charged. That info is not available in your link.

    Good night all
Yeah, I gotta go to bed too (:

One case with a drunk shooter...and the guy he shot was a cop....Not really what I would risk my life and well being on. In any case, it DID go to court. What do you think that not-guilty verdict cost him in cash to the lawyer, lost wages, and lost future job potential? He is also going down for a crime with a potential 2-year prison sentence. Ooops. I guess he will not be carrying in the future.
His behavior at the bar could have been a huge factor. The location implies WITNESSES. And I'll bet they weren't all cops. I'd be interested to know those details.
