Just tested some 45acp reloads...not a soul in sight. I'll be at pistol range around 10am tomorrow if anyone wants to join me.

Apart from Chris and I, and then someone plowing the road and parking lot later on Ridge and Valley was empty also. Kinda nice.

I was only at Paletown for a cpl minutes, but long enough for something interesting to happen to me. As I was shooting the test reloads(nothing hot mind you, actually I start low and work up to best cycling/accuracy) I fire off a few rounds, and immediately after one of the shots, I feel a sting on the upper iner thigh region, just right of mr johnson. You would think that giant angled steel backing would deflect anything down, but I took an almost 180° ricchochet, which left an inch long welt. I was about halfway down range, so keep that in mind next time you shoot there.

I took a look at the steel plates downrange last time I was there-
Be advised that when steel gets pocked like that, it sends fragments back at the shooter.
Those plates are totally unsafe to shoot at.

Did you check the Grassy Knoll?

On the pistol range, I caught a .45 ricochet in the gut. Thing left a hell of a welt!

Thanks Jim. I thought everyone should be aware and take steps to avoid something like this happeningto them like heavier clothes, shoot at cross angle to target etc.
Didn't check the grassy knoll, Dave. Was it you with a pellet gun?
First i've heard of that happening Chris. Good thing you had your homegrown kevlar. I was checking for blood as I was wearing sweats. It's jeans from now on for me.
Still going this morning for pistol shooting, maybe I'll bring the AR for cpl mags too.

You got Paletowned...the trick is not to look at the target, it's to look at the plate behind the target where your round will hit and come back at you somewhere in your lower half. Range repair seems to only involve replacing the plastic membership card holders.

It adds to the challenge. What fun is shooting at defenseless paper if it can't shoot back at you?
