The first post said he was looking for striker pin range only gun. If its just a range gun why not look at a SA/DA pistol. Much better trigger control after it's racked. You'll enjoy your purchase if you purchase what feels the most comfortable in your hand and has good 3 dot sights right out of the box.

I rep'd the post that said similar, but +1 for the HK VP9 followed by a Walther PPQ. The latter has arguably the best trigger out of the box, but having shot both, I'll keep my VP9!

Add another vote for the FNS. I have the compact, but in .40 - very nice shooter, and fully ambidextrous.

Just fired a CZ last weekend, man, that's a nice pistol! Would be high on my list as well.

The PPQ has the best trigger bar none out of the box! It beats out Glocks,HKVP9,SIG,Century arms TPSA9,S&W M&P and whoever else is out there, as Ive tried them all. Id say the TPSA9 is a close second.
The PPQ has the ergos to go along with the trigger, it has become my favorite

    ^^^This^^^

If it's primarily a target/plinking pistol, a nice single/double action is what I would get. I have strikers, DA/SA, DAO, & S/A & have tried out many others. For range shooting, there's just something all warm and fuzzy about a 1911 or a CZ75.

Good thing this is only your opinion.

I'm also for the G34/17 and if you can find one, the G17L. Buy some 15 rd mags and sell me your 17 rounders. You can also hunt with a G34. We killed our third feral boar with one three weekends ago at 42 yds. Ammo was BB +P FN at 1300 fps. Only one of the three ran after being hit and that's 'cause my 21 year old daughter can't shoot straight. It final collapsed after about an 1/8 mile.

BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

Probably an XDM would be the best bet with your criteria. The competition model handles particularly well. Agree with the rest of the group that a 1911 would be a more pleasant target gun simply because nothing, absolutely nothing, has a better trigger.

FYI, I now have 500 or so rounds through the aforementioned VP9. It's sublime. Unmatched ergos in a striker fired pistol. Trigger unmatched by anything that does not say PPQ on the front, and only then by a shade...

HK P7. Best of both worlds. All steel, great trigger, expensive but worth it.
