Re: Practical accuracy vs. Bulls eye accuracy....
[QUOTE=saleen322;1905099]Anyone carrying a firearm must first have the capability to hit what they are shooting at and understand the limitations of their shooting ability.
456 - Statement like this really take away from what being asked. Lets clean the water I never said do one or the other what I asked which is the most importatnt AFTER the basic has been accomplished. We all know some who stress one way and not the other. Like me I stress defensive gun training and use the slow fire to find where new ammo or gun are hitting and proceed to counter defensive training. By all means crawal, stand and then run but like in this example where do u spend most of your time.Last edited by Neko456; February 24th, 2012 at 09:19 AM.

Re: Practical accuracy vs. Bulls eye accuracy....
Practical. I'd rather work on hitting things quickly while moving than drill one ragged hole in the center of a target at a line.
Granted I do both. As a shooter you have to know where you guns are, and where they "go" after you've fired them some.
But I try to do what I can to not stay standing in one spot when I shoot. If I ever do end up in a fight using a pistol. I don't want to freeze. So if I can program my brain to remember my legs work just fine when I'm shooting. Then that's what I'm going to try to train the most.

Here's a guy that knows a little bit ablout shooting on the move. He recommends not shooting on the move unless you can do it with at least 80% accuracy:

456 - Thats a great point I don't usually shoot and move together I usually shoot then move. I haven't mastered the Goucho step (named after famous comedian) it allows accurate stepping and shooting. This is a at least a medium level tacitcal team training method rarely seen outside this type training. I haven't got it down yet but I will. Anybody know the basic of the stepping?

I shoot on the run. Forget the Groucho step. Get on the treadmill and dry fire. Try different variations of heel-toe or just staying up on your toes. See where the sights looks best.
