Re: Bug Out Bag---Why bother?
I think many of these posts show just what a BOB is. It’s different things to different people. The point is to provide the tools to survive as long as it suits us. Personally hunkering down in an apartment or suburban setting sounds plausible, but play that situation out 2,3,4 weeks and then 2,3,4 months. Many people are trash and shit. It may work out it may not. To me best be prepared to have an alternative recourse.
Oh BTW Yukon Jack always figures into emergency preparedness.FUCK BIDEN

Re: Bug Out Bag---Why bother?
Your government recommends that you have one.
FEMA
http://www.fema.gov/plan/prepare/supplykit.shtm
Homeland security sends you to ready.gov
http://www.ready.gov/america/getakit/index.html
The red cross thinks you need one too
http://www.redcross.org/portal/site/...tcurrchannel=1If you don't know who your state legislators are go here:

put your zip plus 4 in the box in the upper right hand corner.

Re: Bug Out Bag---Why bother?
Once I get through my medical training, I will have a very good medical kit for any type of emergency. Anyone, anywhere can have just about any kind of injury, and being trained in that, I would like to be able to help.
As for a bug out bag...I got a 24 pack of water in my trunk, and a rifle ready to go with a mag or two loaded up. If I need more than that and a few cans of soup...I'll be dead eventually anyway"See, this side is well roasted; turn me on the other and eat." St. Lawrence

Re: Bug Out Bag---Why bother?
First off i see people adding liquor to their BOB and the first thing I would do is get rid of the old grand dad stuff...nasty. If im going to go out im going to go out BIG and my last drink is going to be of some good shit.....like.....
Talisker 18 yr single malt or if im feeling real ballsy the 25 yr single malt 100.00 for the 18 yr and about 215.00+ for the 25yr respectively

This makes much more sense... a bottle or two of Jeagermeister with a 6 pack (or two!) of Red-Bull. You have carbohydrate loaded red bull... and the zombie killing, mountain climbing booze muscles from the Jeager!

Re: Bug Out Bag---Why bother?
Since everyone keeps mentioning alcohol...
I keep a bottle of Everclear in my bag. At 190 Proof it will provide more than double the drunk, er... pain relief, of most other liquors and it is ideal for things like sterilization, running an alcohol stove and possibly for improvised weapons/traps.

Why?
"As we know,
There are known knowns. There are things we know we know.
We also know There are known unknowns. That is to say We know there are some things We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns, The ones we don't know We don't know"
A BOB need not be such a big deal. Yes, some build theirs to survive a family a 4 for weeks. Mine just has some basic stuff including some water and a few MRE, matches, rope, blanket, etc. Just things you may need to hold you over for a day or maybe two. Because you never know.
