    +1.

Just thinking of the same scenario.

You think its a dumb idea to be more concerned about your own safety than the law?

I think the basic argument being made is that you have a greater chance of trouble with the law than needing to use your weapon to save your life. It's a balancing act: I want to be free and I want to be safe. I could be more free and potentially less safe (by always following the law, in every circumstance) or more safe and less free (by always acting proactively, in every circumstance). What's important is whether the danger to my freedom posed by carrying a loaded long arm is greater than the danger to my safety posed by traveling in Philadelphia without a loaded long arm.

Personally I would not drive with a loaded shotgun in the city, because I don't think the dangers outweigh the risks.

My concern for my safety includes retaining my RKBA, and staying out of prison. Not a very safe place, prison. How far do you think you'll get driving through the crowded areas of Philly where these incidents are occurring with a visible shotgun in your car? If it's hidden, or in your trunk, it's going to do you no good whatsoever.

I think it's dumb to do something that carries way more risk than possible benefit, and make bravado-filled posts about my intent to commit a crime on a public forum.

Well you certainly won't have to worry about "losing" your right to keep and bare arms when you're in a casket.

If I don't unlawfully keep a loaded shotgun in my vehicle, I'm going to end up in a casket? That makes a ton of sense. Y'know, especially since I can have any number of loaded handguns in my vehicle, and on my person, without risking prison. Oh, I forgot, handguns are totally ineffective while the mere sound of a shotgun action being cycled will cause every thug within a five block radius to shit his pants, right before he bursts into flames.

I was going to make fun of your spelling, but I decided not to.

Reading is fundamental. I never said anything about loaded shotguns in your vehicle.

I was going to make fun of your lack of knowledge of the definition of the word bare, but I decided I'd just say this instead.

    2 : open to view : exposed <laying bare their secrets>

    as opposed to possess.

In this context, using the word bare, as in display or employ, is correct.

I think the far more important issue is at what point you're justified- be it legally or practically- in drawing during a situation like this. At what point in the formation and continued occurrence of a 'mob' would you feel comfortable drawing to fire?
