Since the transaction crosses state lines, the blood relationship is irrelevant. The long guns must be transferred via an FFL in any state. The handguns will have to be transferred through an FFL in NM.

Don't forget that if you're doing the long gun transfers here, he'll still have to pay the airline to check the rifle cases on his flight home. Might be a better idea to ship all guns back to NM.
