Re: WW II PISTOLS
No problem. Italian history in WW2 is kind of complicated.
I learned about the ISU from Mark Felton who does an outstanding series of WW2 history videos on varied topics. The Walther Forum has (had? been a while since I've been there) a subforum dedicated entirely to Beretta firearms. You can check your new gem's background to get further info.
Update: here is a link to that forum where you can find out more. http://p38forum.com/forums/index.phpLast edited by Ecclectic Collector; February 15th, 2022 at 07:38 PM.

Re: WW II PISTOLS
No Luger? You're missing the best one! I need to go after the British stuff. I'm pretty well covered aside from that.
A list, for fun.
M1 Garand (3)
M1 carbine
Springfield 03A3
Colt 1917
S&W Victory .38 S&W
K98 Mauser (non matching, still looking)
Walther P-38
Mauser P08 Luger (minty)
FN 1900
Type 99 Arisaka
Type 14 Nambu (early war)
Type 14 Nambu (Mid war)
Type 94 Nambu
M91/30Mosin Nagant (4)
Finnish Mosin Nagant (2)
M1895 Revolver
I feel like I'm forgetting something, but that's most of it. Really want a Webley, a Colt 1911, and a good Mk whatever Enfield. Also a second Luger that I can shoot. Mine is so pretty I've only fired 20 rds through her.

Re: WW II PISTOLS
There is a personal reason for no Luger on the list , when I was in my 20*s I had a Luger given to me from my grandfather, it was stolen by one of my sisters boyfriends friends *.can*t prove it but was in my gun case one day and then gone *I was living with my wife(fiancé) at the time and had not moved my gun cabinet yet . I must have left it unlocked and one of the bastards stole it , left the holster empty . I didn*t notice for a few months until I returned home to my parents place to get more stuff to move into our apartment. I just don*t want to own one now . Like I said it*s personal.

Dad brought some relics back from WWII * Germany & France.
Mauser C96 Broomhandle was one of them.

Re: WW II PISTOLS
In terms of the Enfield WWII variety, you need the Mk 1 (full DA/SA) then the Mk I* (the so-called "tanker" and then the Mk 1** DA only. Dave_n

Re: WW II PISTOLS
if purchasing these you will need to know several things. most people think these 1917s have original finish when in reality if it is parked....its not original. remember that blued finish was the primary finish until late WWI and post war when it was changed to parkerizing. expect to pay a premium for original blued finish on the 1917s and 1911s. moving into other pistols like Nambus, Lugers, Webleys, etc. is an art unto itself. read lots of information before buying so you can make an educated purchase!
