All this negative commentary to me from 1 stovepipe out of 500+ rounds? No one has said a thing about the possibility of a bad round? Limp wristing could have been the cause, but why haven't I had this before, I know I have had to have limp wristed before and I saw limp wristing in action one day when I let another lady fire the .40, and it did not jam up.

Ok I won't say more, spent like 15 mins here and deleted most of it, I am having PMS and you guys with wives/gf's will understand. I guess I am having an XD PMS moment or something. I should just go out some day this week or next and fire off another 100 rounds and see if it happens again.

Sir, while I didn't click the links posted I don't see any negativity. I can only speak for myself but I'd rather know my gun will perform if needed instead of relying on a annonymous post by some guy making a blanket statement about a certain firearm.

    Maybe it's just me??

    Stephanie-

It could have been a weak round, light on powder, weak primer, or any of the other stuff mentioned. Here's a new possibility... is the extractor gummed up? Maybe a little unburned powder?

Do I know the person who limp-wristed?

We're working on a date to shoot here, will keep you posted.

the only thing i can think off. besides the cleaning.. Since the saftey is built into the grip.. just that one time you didnt hold it right or something.. i remember shooting an xd40 and untill i learned how to use it correctly it did that to me alot.. Just my guess.. i dont shoot hand guns.. im not old enough to own one yet.. so.... anyways when i shot it.. it jammed a few times on me.. but thats just cause i suck with handguns lol! hope you get it sorted..

The gun was well used when I bought it, the seller said 1000-1500 rounds mostly doing IDPA, using as a BUG. He told me he never had any problems with it. Seemed like an honest enough guy, and the 500+ I put through since was backing that up.
    1500 rounds is barely broken in. (I have a 2011 with 135K+)

    As stated before, possible causes
    - Limp wristing the gun
    - Bad Mag Springs
    - Lips on mag spread
    - Worn recoil spring

Please just excuse me, as previously stated, really bad case of PMS, been totally irritable all day, but trying my best to ignore it and working like a slave to distract myself.

Yes Keith, you can have "the boss" slap me around next time we all meet, yes she was limp wristing when she first tried the .40 out, but I got her to grip it right and she was good to go.

With all of todays ultra reliable polymer wonder pistols on the market we dont see the malfs we did 20 years ago thank God.

But like any man made object, it can fail. Maybe it was the gun, maybe it was the ammo. Maybe the stars lined up and the moon turned red at the very moment it jammed. Who knows. Might never happen again.

The Glock, XD, HK and M&P's are very good guns worthy of combat in any condition. But hey, it happens. Dont worry about it until it happens more than once...or often.
