In addition, the slingshot method saves wear and tear on the slide release as well as on your thumb depressing said slide release. And you don't have to shift grip to do that.

I've also heard this;
If you always use the slide release and get into a SHTF situation that you need to reload, if your rushing you could hit the slide release before the mag is fully inserted and now you have an empty chamber and won't know it until you pull the trigger.

I will note that if you are using a shock buffer in your 1911, it probably won't slingshot.

The Eclipse should... I don't think Kimber ships buffs in any of their pistols...never that I've seen.

I bought my Kimber used and there is a buffer on it for sure. I always assumed it was stock......guess not.
