Make sure that she is not "limp wrist-ing" either. My wife had that issue.

How does one limp wrist a (virtually) recoil-less pistol? Not trying to be smart, but my 10 year old grandson likes this pistol because of its lack of recoil. I have seen limp wristing in .40 S&W pistols as well as a few folks doing it with .45 acp pistols.

As usual I tended to overthink the problem looking for the most complicated solution.
You were oiling the inside of your barrel?

once again, I wound up removing as much oil as I could. I stripped the slide and frame and sprayed them down with non-chlorinated carb cleaner. I then put a dot of oil on the slide and reassembled the pistol. I racked the slide several times and then wiped off any excess oil.

Fwiw, my Ruger likes certain types of ammo, some high velocity, some standard. I take the .22 ammo that my pistol doesn't like and shoot it out of my bolt action rifle.

Make sure the recoil spring is on the guide rod in the right direction. The tighter end should go on first and the wider end is what seats into the slide. If I remember correctly from my SR22 it is very hard to tell the two ends apart. I think this is a common issue with the SR22s if you look on the Ruger forum.

Racking the slide by hand sometimes you have to push it forward to feed the first round out of the clip. The nose will hang up on the feed ramp. Also we have been having some issues with the fired case not extracting from the chamber. Now while this is giving her good practice clearing jams it is an issue and we joined a .22 bullseye league starting in a few weeks. Usually the stuck case needs pried out with a fine flathead screwdriver.

Now I am a budding amateur gunsmith. I have been doing a ton of reading and watching gunsmithing videos and I think I can tackle this one myself. I'm thinking polishing the feed ramp and chamber could fix the problem. I don't have any stones yet for polishing the feed ramp but I do have a rotary tool with polishing compound and attachments. Would this be ok for polishing the feed ramp? Also the technique I have seen for polishing the chamber involves taping a strip of fine grit sandpaper to a rotary tool shaft and spinning it in the chamber letting the centrifugal force press the paper against the chamber walls smoothing them out. Does this sound right? If so what grit would be recommended?

Before you ask yes the weapon is cleaned after each use. I have her take it to the bench, field strip it, clean out the action and barrel, and run a lightly oiled patch through the barrel before reassembly. Even with the weapon freshly cleaned these extraction problems can happen from the first clip. I did notice the extractor spring isn't very stiff, but then again I'm not sure how stiff a .22 extractor should be. I know my xd45 extractor is very stiff.

I just bought the SR22 yesterday, i took it to the range today. I had that not loading the first round into the chamber for about the first 5 magazines, after that it went away. I put about 400 rounds threw the gun today, most of them Federal Automatch, then the rest Federal Champion the bulk blue box. The only trouble i had was with the Automatch, some of the rounds where under powered so i would kick out the spent round and reset the hammer but would not load the next round. When switched to the Federal Champion i didn't have a single issue. Otherwise it ran great and im really happy with the gun.

Just don't pack the rounds in the magazine, use the spring lever and slide them in and that's that.

In my case I used the thumb pull down to load the magazine each time so that was not the issue.
