Re: List of Shops Around Pittsburgh
A&S is definitely a 5 for me...willing to take time to deal with someone who knows (almost) nothing, very friendly.
Ace...I guess a 4...selection is fantastic, customer service is ok, probably would be better if they weren't so busy.
Sportsman's Warehouse on Mt. Nebo will be closed in about two days. Hardly anything left in there, no firearms, a few boxes of 12 gauge ammo and maybe 3 holsters.
The Gander Mountain in Robinson, I'll say 3, although I almost didn't go back after my first visit. That particular salesguy was a complete ass, treated me like I was retarded.

Re: List of Shops Around Pittsburgh
I'm going to give The Shooter's Bench a solid 5. I was amazed by the selection of new and used firearms they had available. Their prices are extremely reasonable. The service was great and the employees were helpful and courteous.

Re: List of Shops Around Pittsburgh
i bought two guns from here, they are over priced, Big Buck sports undersold them in 2 out of 3 guns i bought. GM had my Cx4 for $850, BBS for 800. my Px4 was $569 at BBS and $589 at GM.
GM told me the ONLY Cx4 they sell takes the 92/96 mags. so foolishly i ran out and bought spare mags before my gun came in (i ordered one they didnt have in stock) and i got the one that took the Px4 mag. not too upset since i bought a Px4 anyway shortly thereafter; but i was angry i had to return my other mags based on misinformation.
Big Buck Sports in wexford gets a 3 from me. They have a full line of Beretta, which is why i went there, 2 out of 3 of the guys behind the counter were more than helpful to me. one, a former army pistol team something or other, was somewhat comedic. another one of the older gentelmen went above and beyond IMO when i bought my Px4. to ensure, after the first fuckup, that i got the Px4 that takes Px4 mags i took the mag out of my Cx4. i put one round in the mag. i walked in. i handed him the mag and took two steps back. i told him if the mag fit, we'd talk. it did. i told him if it chambered the round we have some paperwork to fill out so i can walk out with a new pistol. he turned around, racked the slide once, racked it again. round ejected. i bought my gun. i acttualy was surprised that he was willing to go that extra step for me without having to make a point on why im requesting that. (the 96 mag fit in my gun, but was a hair too low to chamber)
also gander mountian hasnt had pistol ammo in 3 years. when i got my Cx4 they had 3 boxs of .40 sw and that was the end of that. BBS has had a god selection of all calibers every time i go in. prices are decent on ammo too imo

Re: List of Shops Around Pittsburgh
There are only two shops I deal with now primarily through experiences.
1) Logan's Gun Gallery. Rick Logan is a true gentleman and his prices are very good. You wouldn't expect to find a good selection of both pistols and long guns, including black rifles, at such a small shop, but he has them. He's very easygoing and great to deal with. His ammo selection is good and has had what I wanted for the most part for and isn't gouging. I give him a solid 5.
Directions: Take any route comfortable to you to US 422 in Butler County. Head east just beyond the Rt. 8 exits (you can get on 422 off of Rt. 8). Get off at Jefferson St. exit, turn left. Turn left on Rt. 38 at next light. Take 38 for a good way into North Washington. Just past rodeo grounds on left, take next left turn (be careful here). Logan's is two buildings up on the right, park in the rear. Hours 10-9 M-F, 10-4:30 Sat. 724-894-2260
2) Duke's Sport Shop. The staff is very helpful and their prices quite acceptable. Good selection and I found ammo there when nobody else seemed to have any. The owner is a great guy. When I brought up my sons to check out the selection, they were mezmerized by the line of assault weapons. The owner gladly handed several of them for the guys to check out. The conversation was nice, also. I give them a 5 also.
Directions: Again go to Rt. 422 in Butler County however you go. Continue on 422 toward New Castle, west, until you see the Red head gas station on the right. A short distance past this is the magistrates office on the right. Duke's is right behind this. There is a roadside sign in the driveway. 724-652-6019Last edited by officer64; August 27th, 2009 at 06:41 PM. Reason: error

Re: List of Shops Around Pittsburgh
Wanted to again say thanks for this list.
Today it helped me find a part locally, rather than ordering online.
Markl Supply Co., Inc - is where I'm going to get the part, and I was referred there by a helpful gentleman at High Tech Handguns who didn't have the part in stock, but didn't hesitate to direct me to someone who may. A lot of places would simply say "No, we don't have it", or "We can order it."
I know it's not a lot to go on, but so far, I give each of these places two thumbs up.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
