I gave him space and waved for him to pull out in front of me. The problem was, he took my wave as "you're all clear, go" as opposed to "pull out in front of me, then when it is clear, pull into the other lane." He was inches away from getting t-boned as a result. While I don't think it was my fault, I nonetheless felt terrible.

So, now I only do the same when it is clear for the person to pull out into the oncoming lane.
I never wave someone on due to getting sued if the person gets hit. That's how far we have fallen from society.
I just mind my own business and wave no one on.
Just a day or two ago I decided to be kinda nice and let the two people cross the street, and not at a crosswalk.
All I got was a big chip on the shoulder stare because I'm whitey. I think his GF was embarrassed, because
she waved at me while he was acting all tough and taking his good old time.

    Ahh, the defiant shuffle.

I was following a big rig up some steep hills today and three times and rode up the shoulder to let cars pass. First time, I couldn't get buy him because he was out of shoulder but I let him back in. Next two time I was directly behind him on a long steep hill and he moved over. I didn't pass because I was towing and didn't have it to get around him safely. But I let him know it was ok and he could come back out safely. Been years since I've seen a trucker with such courtesy.

I thought big rig drivers prefer the term "Driver" as "trucker" is a pejorative?
