Standard pressure 230gr HST or Gold Dots. I agree with Rock Island on the Golden Sabers as well tho I don*t currently have any but usually in a G30 G4 I shoot the thing so damn well

The great thing about either the .45 or the 9mm is the incredible variety of effective ammo for it we have available to us. There are at least a half dozen .45 ACP rounds I'd be happy to carry, and I don't think this one is better than some that have already been mentioned, but it is remarkably consistent (look at the penetration photo), and the Remington Golden Saber ogive feeds reliably in every single 1911 pistol on the planet.

I usually carry 230 gr. fmj when packing a .45 acp., since I rarely carry a .45 unless I'm up in the mountains hunting. I will usually carry either a Glock 30s or, I may carry a Glock 22 with 180 gr. fmj. I used to carry a .357 mag., with 158 gr. sjsp ammo, but I feel a little better with the added capacity of the Glocks.

I've had 3 close encounters with black bears over the years, including a sow with cubs but have never needed to fire a shot.

    I don’t often carry a .45 but when I do I keep a couple magazines full of old school 230 grain Hydra-Shok.

When I carry the .45 or .40 Glocks up in the mountains, I'm either trout fishing or Spring gobbler hunting. Rifles are either not legal or not advisable during those times.
