Moving to Florida

I'm sure some of you have made the move from Pa to Fl. What's the process to get carry license there. I have ltcf here in Pa. Any training bullshit required?

Florida has "Constitutional Carry" for CONCEALED ONLY. No open carry allowed, except to/from/during certain sporting activities.

If you still want a FL license, yes - you must perform a dog & pony show with live fire. Active and vet military(honorable discharge) are exempt of the training requirement. FL's list of off limits places is long, so learn them all. And regardless as to what Gary Slider(of Handgunlaw.us ) believes, No Guns Signs can serve as first notice, thus making any entry while armed as trespassing. And in FL there is an enhanced "Armed Trespass" law, which is quite punitive. Just because there isn't a law directly empowering "No Gun" signs like some states, it doesn't mean the "No Gun" signs don't have authority under trespass. ...take a gun to Disney World and be discovered, you will be getting charged - instant 3rd degree felony.

For the culture in FL - expect your home to be burglarized once every 5-10 years in the city areas. Do not leave things out in your yard like lawn mowers. Heck, we had 3 lawn mowers stolen from our place in east Tampa in the course of 15 years - all of which from the closed garage, and the last mower was literally bolted to the floor of the garage AND THEY STOLE THE FUCKING BOLTS AND STEEL STRAPS with the mower. You have to lock your house/vehicle doors at all times whether you are occupying them or not at the moment.

Now the bright side of things is that there is lots to do, see, and experience in FL. If you like blue crabs, you're be in luck because they are far cheaper in FL than in MD - although they are seasonal in both states. Lots of fresh and saltwater fishing opportunities. Hunting is hit/miss, kinda limited in public places to hunt and your have to be super mindful of what is beyond because of the flat terrain and continuous urban sprawl.

Of course, the biggest challenge you will face down there is the infamous and ubiquitous Florida Man. He's everywhere doing anything all the time in the Sunshine State...

I lived in Palm Beach County (south FL) for ~8 years as a teenager. My parents keep asking me to move back (they are in Fernandina now, north of Jacksonville).

We like to visit Florida usually Fort Lauderdale or Key West. Been to Orlando a few times and Islamorada Always in the winter. A few retired coworkers moved there. They said you get used to the heat.

Kind of the reverse of PA, no license for open carry, but required for concealed. Weird.

I assume all of those prohibited places are regardless of concealed/permitless or open/permitted. I would have thought better of Florida's gun laws.
